“Who Cares... Not Going Anywhere!”

Scary thought for those of us in the motorcycle industry, especially the event promoters and charity ride coordinators. By the way….the prices you see here were as of May 1st this year, and last time I checked we were pushing the $4 mark here in most if not all of the Midwest. So with no end in sight, what does that mean for those of you who can’t or won’t pay the outrageous fuel costs to go to the “big” out-of-state events like Sturgis and Biketoberfest in Daytona? Hopefully you will stay closer to home and help make our local events here in the Midwest a success. These events, like Sturgis on the River in Davenport, IA, Iron Horse Festival in Sabula, IA, Harley-Davidson’s 105th Anniversary Celebration in Milwaukee, WI, and The Fall Colors Run in Tomahawk, WI to mention a few, will now need to rely more than ever on the support of the local riding community to help sustain them. Not only will these larger events need our support, but all of the many great charity rides and poker runs throughout the Midwest Region will be looking to us to help keep their goals attainable and allow them to help the many great causes that they are working for. Most of these events are already established and successful and provide the riding community with great ride routes and entertainment.

So check out our extensive Calendar of Events section and start planning your weekends a little closer to home! Quick Throttle Magazine’s 1st Annual Party at Sturgis! I just wanted to remind everyone about our customer appreciation/rider party that we will be hosting during this year’s Sturgis Rally. The party will be held on Tuesday August 1st at the Nemo Guest Ranch in Nemo, SD. Nemo is a great little town located between Rapids City and Deadwood on some of the best “unknown” roads in the Black Hills. Check out the ad and discount coupon on page 2 of this month’s issue for more information. Hope to see you there…….even with the higher gas prices….just means we won’t see as many trailers!!!

Until next month…….keep drilling for that “bubble in crude”…who knows…you may end up in Beverly Hills someday!
